Protect Those Locks!

Always use protection ladies!! Hair protection, that is!

I have clients that come in from time to time with damaged hair, wondering why. Do you use a blow dryer? a flat iron? a curling iron? hot rollers? a crimper?! (Hopefully not the last!)  Anyway, if you answered yes to any of the above, you need to protect those tresses!

I usually use Moroccan Oil before I blow-dry my hair. It is ah-mazing! It is great for ALL, yes all hair types. It's a weightless oil that cuts down blow-drying time (thank goodness!) and leaves the hair smooth and less frizzy!

After my hair is dry, I use either my flat iron or my curling iron. Doesn't matter if I'm curling or goin straight, I have something to protect my hair from that heat. Those things get HOT! I use either Kenra's Hot Spray or Aquage's Working Spray. Both are equally as good. They both give you the hold and protection you need. Now whether you spray it all over or spray it with each section of hair is up to you-just use it! Also, the biggest problem with the flat iron is that a lot of people go over and over the same section of hair several times. Yikes!! My flat iron can get up to 400 degrees and going over that hair more than once/twice is going to give me some damage. The key to using a flat iron is to take smaller sections. No, this isn't going to take longer because you are going over that section just once- instead of 5 times! Even if it takes a second or two longer, wouldn't you rather have pretty, healthy hair than a frizzy, fried mess?! Think about it! Use protection!!

Look at your hair products, if you don't have protection...get your butt into the salon and come talk to me!! I'll get you that protection you need!  Much love!! =)

Products Galore

This morning while I was getting ready, my husband made a comment about my "under the sink madness":

Now to me, this isn't madness. It's just simply someone who loves to try product and goes onto the next new thing before finishing the last. I told him it's my job to try new products. With an eye roll out of the bathroom he went! So I started to go through my basket of goodies and I realized he was kinda right (I hate when that happens!!) Well... I kinda had product that I bought when I was still  in beauty school (9 years ago!!)  Oops! I guess it had been awhile since I cleaned that puppy out! Well here is the new, organized beauty basket!

It's an improvement right?! I can't help that I'm a hair product junkie! (Or in my husband's words a "hoarder".) Oh I do love that man! =)

Since I'm speaking of bathroom madness, I thought I would show you what else I'm improving- the main bathroom. I know this isn't hair related, but I'm just so thrilled with the results! I'm such a handyWOman!! Here's the before and after:

Yes, the mirror is a FABULOUS  Pinterest DIY project. OMGosh... it was so easy and cheap!! (Only 5 trips to Lowe's too! grrr!)  What do you all think?!

Hope you're week is going as fast as mine!! And yay for nice volleyball weather tonight! (Hopefully!I guess there still is time for the weather to change!)  Much love! =)

Fancy Hair

It's that time of the year, it's the beginning of wedding season!! (and proms too) I thought I would put together some of my hair-spiration that I've pinned on pinterest. I could look at hair on that site forever! My husband gets annoyed with the amount of time that I get lost in the pinterest world, that is until I bake a recipe I got off there!

Up do's are so much fun to do. It lets you get your creative juices flowing! It always amazes me with what people can do with hair. Such beauty!

For my wedding, I was lucky enough to have a couple of bridesmaids that were also hair stylists. I was able to wear my hair down for the ceremony and then throw it all up for the par-tay! =) I have some talanted friends, don't I?!
(Thanks Rachel and Cam!)
Here are a few of my favorites from pinterest:

Get yo fancy on, my hair friends!! =)  Much love!

Hair Wash

I get asked on almost a daily basis on how often one should shampoo their hair. Well the answer is, it's completely different for each person. I usually wash my hair everyday- I have a really oily scalp which needs a daily wash. There are a few girls at the salon that can go a couple days without shampooing. Which I am soooo jealous of! Who likes to blow-dry their hair everyday? Not this girl!

Another factor to think about is your hair color. The more you wash your hair, the faster the color fades. If you need to wash your hair everyday, make sure you have a shampoo that is for color treated hair and is sulfate free. (And professional!! There is a big, HUGE difference between professional products and the ones bought at a grocery store. If you spend that much money on your hair color, spend just a little more on a professional shampoo and conditioner- it will last longer!)

Now, when you do shampoo your hair, and especially if you're like me and need to shampoo daily, only massage the scalp. Don't wad up your ends and put them on top of your head and shampoo-that just beats your ends up. (and makes that color fade!) Your ends don't really get dirty so they don't need a cleansin.  Also when conditioning, just put the conditioner on the mid lengths and ends. The oil in your hair will naturally condition the roots.

So, what happens if I wake up late and there's no time to do my hair, you ask? Okay, well lean in a little closer and I'll let you in on my little secret...ready?
I actually sprinkle the roots with a little baby powder and rub it in.
Personally, I have not found a dry shampoo I like and this works for me. Now, if you're a brunette, it might not work as well since it's white -but you blondes can try it out. Don't use a lot...just a little sprinkle here and there! (Or throw on a cute hat or scarf!!)  =)

Here's a little peek at my shower products for the moment:

I'm using Redken's Blonde Glam as my everyday shampoo and contitioner. Once a week I use either, Rusk's deep shine Color Repair mask or Loreal's Absolut Repair mask.
Much love!! =)
