Products Galore

This morning while I was getting ready, my husband made a comment about my "under the sink madness":

Now to me, this isn't madness. It's just simply someone who loves to try product and goes onto the next new thing before finishing the last. I told him it's my job to try new products. With an eye roll out of the bathroom he went! So I started to go through my basket of goodies and I realized he was kinda right (I hate when that happens!!) Well... I kinda had product that I bought when I was still  in beauty school (9 years ago!!)  Oops! I guess it had been awhile since I cleaned that puppy out! Well here is the new, organized beauty basket!

It's an improvement right?! I can't help that I'm a hair product junkie! (Or in my husband's words a "hoarder".) Oh I do love that man! =)

Since I'm speaking of bathroom madness, I thought I would show you what else I'm improving- the main bathroom. I know this isn't hair related, but I'm just so thrilled with the results! I'm such a handyWOman!! Here's the before and after:

Yes, the mirror is a FABULOUS  Pinterest DIY project. OMGosh... it was so easy and cheap!! (Only 5 trips to Lowe's too! grrr!)  What do you all think?!

Hope you're week is going as fast as mine!! And yay for nice volleyball weather tonight! (Hopefully!I guess there still is time for the weather to change!)  Much love! =)

Fancy Hair

It's that time of the year, it's the beginning of wedding season!! (and proms too) I thought I would put together some of my hair-spiration that I've pinned on pinterest. I could look at hair on that site forever! My husband gets annoyed with the amount of time that I get lost in the pinterest world, that is until I bake a recipe I got off there!

Up do's are so much fun to do. It lets you get your creative juices flowing! It always amazes me with what people can do with hair. Such beauty!

For my wedding, I was lucky enough to have a couple of bridesmaids that were also hair stylists. I was able to wear my hair down for the ceremony and then throw it all up for the par-tay! =) I have some talanted friends, don't I?!
(Thanks Rachel and Cam!)
Here are a few of my favorites from pinterest:

Get yo fancy on, my hair friends!! =)  Much love!

Hair Wash

I get asked on almost a daily basis on how often one should shampoo their hair. Well the answer is, it's completely different for each person. I usually wash my hair everyday- I have a really oily scalp which needs a daily wash. There are a few girls at the salon that can go a couple days without shampooing. Which I am soooo jealous of! Who likes to blow-dry their hair everyday? Not this girl!

Another factor to think about is your hair color. The more you wash your hair, the faster the color fades. If you need to wash your hair everyday, make sure you have a shampoo that is for color treated hair and is sulfate free. (And professional!! There is a big, HUGE difference between professional products and the ones bought at a grocery store. If you spend that much money on your hair color, spend just a little more on a professional shampoo and conditioner- it will last longer!)

Now, when you do shampoo your hair, and especially if you're like me and need to shampoo daily, only massage the scalp. Don't wad up your ends and put them on top of your head and shampoo-that just beats your ends up. (and makes that color fade!) Your ends don't really get dirty so they don't need a cleansin.  Also when conditioning, just put the conditioner on the mid lengths and ends. The oil in your hair will naturally condition the roots.

So, what happens if I wake up late and there's no time to do my hair, you ask? Okay, well lean in a little closer and I'll let you in on my little secret...ready?
I actually sprinkle the roots with a little baby powder and rub it in.
Personally, I have not found a dry shampoo I like and this works for me. Now, if you're a brunette, it might not work as well since it's white -but you blondes can try it out. Don't use a lot...just a little sprinkle here and there! (Or throw on a cute hat or scarf!!)  =)

Here's a little peek at my shower products for the moment:

I'm using Redken's Blonde Glam as my everyday shampoo and contitioner. Once a week I use either, Rusk's deep shine Color Repair mask or Loreal's Absolut Repair mask.
Much love!! =)

Dumb Blonde

As I said in my first post, I will be featuring different products I use from time to time. The first one is a product from the line, Bed Head. It's called Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff. I am absolutely obsessed with this stuff! I use it every single day on my hair. Doesn't matter if I curl it or straighten it, this bad boy is going in my hair! It helps cut down on my frizz, gives it a little shimmer, and the best part is it smells so yummy! I almost want to eat it, but I'm not that dumb of a blonde to do so! (Har, Har!)  All it takes is about a pea sized amount, rub it in your hands and then apply it to your mid-lengths and ends and voila- smooth, shiny hair!! If you haven't tried it, stop into the salon and use some of mine-I'll share! I promise you will be addicted too!! (and p.s. you don't have to be blonde to use it!!) Well with the title being Dumb Blonde, I decided to end with a personal favorite dumb blonde joke...

A blonde walks into a hair salon wearing headphones. The hair stylist comes over to cut her hair, and tells the blonde in order to cut her hair, the headphones must come off. The blonde says she can't or she will die. Finally the hair stylist convinces her to take them off. Within minutes, the blonde dies. "Oh my gosh" said the hair stylist, puzzled. "What is so special about these headphones?" and put them on. Out of the headphones she heard: "Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out..."

Haha!! Happy Wednesday!! Much Love! =)

Magnetic Nails

So the other day, I was at the supply house waiting to check out and I came across some new polish.( I'm always a sucker for those products next to the register-they get me every time!) This polish ain't no ordinary polish-it's magnetic polish. I bought the magnet and 2 polishes to give it a whirl and see if it really works. Well...it does and it's so amazing! I was so excited that I showed everyone at work. They were all fascinated. (It's the little things in life, isn't it?!)  Here are my nails. Done with the gold and  the stripe magnet.

The nail polish has little magnetic particles that move with a special magent that has certian designs in them. How cool is that? Again, it's the little things in life that make my day!!

I also did Taylor's and Anne's nails too! Taylor's are done in the purple with the star magnet and Anne's are puple with the chevron magnet. I did notice that the gold one works better (and I've heard that silver does too).

What do you think of the magnetic nails trend?

Ombre

Ombre is a french term meaning shaded. It's when color goes from light to dark. It's a trend hair color technique that hit the midwest (finally!!) It looks gorgeous when done right. It's beyond gorg when curled!! Here is one of my latest beauty queens that let me play with her b-e-a-utiful hair!

The process...

The Result!

Doesn't she have fabulous hair?!  Thanks Lindsey for being my model!

Also I played around with my nails with this technique. First one I used a make-up sponge to put it on and the 2nd I just used the 3 color brushes. Kinda fun, huh?!

If you are wanting fabulous hair like Lindsey, call the salon (402)502-0009 and make an appointment with me! You won't regret it!! Much Love!!

Here's to the Beginning

Hey everyone!! I'm gonna start off my first post with a little get to know me page. My name is Amber. I have lived in Omaha my entire life and I don't ever plan on leaving! I love this place! My friends and family are here and I love the fact that I get to see my nieces (and newly nephew!) grow up. I just recently got married to an incredible man, Nick. He makes me extremely happy and I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is so supportive of everything I do. I'm a lucky girl. :)

I have been doing hair for 8 almost 9 years. I have loved every moment of it and cannot wait to see what the future holds for me. Being a hairstylist lets me interact with some of the greatest people in Omaha (and outside areas). My clients make this such a rewarding and special career. I love making my clients feel better about themselves. There is just something about new color and a haircut that makes you feel like you can take on the world!! I am so passionate about creating styles that work for each client. I love learning new tips and experimenting with new products! Well with all of this being said, I want to thank all of my wonderful clients for filling my life with so much joy and satisfaction! You all make going into work each day worthwhile.  Much love!!
